World Series

Shad plays on a softball team with all different guys in law enforcement. They have done so well this year at their tournaments they were invited to play in the World Series of softball in Palm Springs, California on October 17th-19th. The top teams from the East Coast to the West Coast come and compete for the top prize. All of the players have to work in some form of law enforcement. I love watching Shad play in games...but this ball park is by far the best place he has ever played. The park is called "Big League Dreams" and the softball fields are constructed after the MLB fields. In the center of the field is a bar and restaurant that has tons of flat screen TVs playing all sport stations (loved Saturday so I could still watch my college football) and also has glass windows as the walls so you can watch the softball games going on outside. When it got too hot for Kyson we could still sit inside in the air conditioning and watch Shad play! It was awesome!!

His first game was on Wrigley field (pictured below) and he also played at Yankee Stadium.

This is one of Shad's good friends that he met while going through the Academy. Carpenter loves playing with Kyson...he is getting ready for his little girl to arrive (his wife is due in January).

I've mentioned in previous posts that Kyson loves playing with any kind of balls. He was content with the dirty one his Daddy gave him for a little while but then noticed the new clean game balls on the other side of the fence. He was so funny and wouldn't let them go. Silly boy!

We had a great time supporting Shad and his team. They were one game away from making it to the Final day. Shad's parents were able to come with us and we enjoyed their company. Thank you Steve and Doe for helping me entertain Kyson during the games...I couldn't have done it without you!!

Conference Weekend

Our family is starting a new tradition. During the October General Conference weekend we will all meet at my parent's house in Ephraim and start our family calendar we give out every year for Christmas. I was so excited to finally get back home (I hadn't seen the new garage my parents had added onto their home). Of course I shouldn't be surprised that this is what greeted us on the street to my parents house! Home Sweet Home!!

When Kyson started walking Shad & I would always make a wide eyed expression and say "Oh, what a big boy"...he picked up on that expression and does it all the time. We found him in my parents sun room and I finally caught the expression on camera! What a cute boy!!

Grandma let us pick out some home-grown pumpkins to take back to Vegas with us...I definitely miss the small town. My mom was very sad when we had to leave...I thought she was going to hide Kyson so she could keep him all to herself! Love you Mom!!

Kyson is starting to give kisses to everyone...but it's an open mouth kiss. I love it! He is so cute! Good-Bye Uncle Evan!
Our last stop out of town was of course the Co-op...we found this cute hat for Kyson. Isn't it hilarious! We had a great time in Ephraim and had lots of GREAT food! Yummy home cooked meals...there is nothing quite like your Mom's cooking. Kyson was pretty tuckered out after all of that attention from my family. Thanks for everything Mom and Dad!!

Cowboy Up!

As most of you know, my brother-in-law rodeo's pretty much all year round. Shad & I were able to go to one of his rodeo's on September 27 and we had a blast! We even put on the closest we had to rodeo gear and took off to Pahrump to support Olin, his brother Jake, and their friend Lex. We even listend to Garth Brooks "Rodeo" on the way to Pahrump to get in the zone of cheering on the cowboys. :) I never got a good picture of Olin steer wrestling that night but if you look at the picture with our sunglasses on, you can see Olin's shadow taking the picture (you can see his cowboy hat in the shadow...LOL). We also got to see the "One armed bandit" fall off of his trailer with his horse...it was pretty funny (I know it sounds cruel but ask Olin it was pretty funny).

I thought I would add some pictures that the rodeo photographers have taken of him in other rodeos cause they are pretty cool too! Anyway, this last weekend Olin won his circuit in steer wrestling!! It was his first time winning the circuit, so it was definitely a great accomplishment! Check out this sight for the official first place standing (click on steer wrestling)... http://www.prorodeo.com/standings_circuit.aspx?xu=W&year=2008

Thanks for inviting us to the rodeo Olin...make sure you let us know the next time you are close to Vegas!

Kyson's Firsts

There are so many FIRSTS in a child’s life...here are just a few of Kyson’s.

This is me inside my mommy's belly ten days before I arive. My parent's still hadn't decided on a name for me until the drive to the hosptial. I was their FIrsT so it was a hard decision. These pictures are of my FirSt bedroom. I think my parent's knew I would love sports...especially baseball. I didn't think my parents would get it done in time for me to come but they finally finished it right before I was born. My Aunt Stephanie and Aunt Natalie helped my mommy finish the room. I loved the magnet board they made with my dad's old baseball cards. The coolest part of my bedroom is the picture right above my crib...it is a picture of my Great Great Grandpa Rollo coaching my Great Grandpa Rollo's softball team. I also love the baseball shelf that my daddy made for me out of his old baseball's.

I knew it wouldn't be easy for my mom during the labor (cause I was a big boy). My mommy was in labor for about 12 hours! After my mommy pushed for over three hours straight the doctor tryed to use a vacumn... that didn't feel very good on my head. Finally, I had to be delivered by an emergency C-Section. Kyson Shad Rollo was born on August 29, 2007 at 3:54 a.m. I weighed 8 lbs and was 19 inches long.

I was so excited to see everyone. This is Grandma Whipple's fIrsT picture with me...her fIRSt grandbaby. My Grandparents were troopers and stayed up all night long with my mommy and waited for me to come. We were released from the hospital only 36 hours after the delivery but a day later we were back in the hospital. My head was hurt from the vacumn and my jaundice levels were so high I could not break down both at the same time. So under the lights I went until Labor Day...then we were finally able to go back home!

This was my fiRSt baseball picture...there are many more to come. My daddy woke up one morning and took a picture of our family's fIRsT photo together. I was asleep after an early morning feeding (my mommy and daddy let me stay in bed with them) and the dogs decided they needed to be with us too. The bed is only a queen but we were able to get all FIVE of us in there to sleep. Crazy!

My mommy watched a lot of footbal while I was in her belly and I couldn't wait until I could get a chance to see my fiRsT football game. So it was perfect that my FirsT game was a BYU football game at 6 weeks old. They played UNLV and my whole family came down to the game too. We had a blast!

This next picture is my fiRst day I was able to go to church. I think my mommy was very happy it was with my Grandpa and Grandma Whipple. Don't you think I look handsome in my church shirt! It's so tiny!!

My mommy caught my fIrst smile in my favorite toy...yup I know what all of you are thinking I'm the cutest thing you have ever seen! I am just 2 months old. So can you guess what I wanted to be for Halloween? Of course, I had to be a baseball player! Cutie Boy!! This was also the time that I slept through the night for th FIRsT time!! I have slept through the night ever since.

I could hardly wait for my fIrST blessing from my daddy. We borrowed this tux from my Aunt Cami. I loved it! My daddy did such a great job on the blessing and so many family and friends came to support me. It was a great day!

I had to get my firSt Christmas tree in Ephraim...so I made my parents drive me all the way up to Utah to cut down my FirsT Christmas tree. I was pretty excited at the beginning but after searching for three trees I got pretty tired. But...I loved experiencing my FiRsT Whipple Family tradition.

These pictures are my fIrST time I met my Great Grandpa and Grandma Baugh and my Great Grandma Whipple. I love these pictures! I love them so much.

Look at my firSt Christmas Eve pajamas and Chirstmas Eve Whipple program. If I'm honest I thought they were all crazy...but I loved every minute of it. I also got to look over the banister for the FirSt time Christmas morning to see what Santa had brought me for the fiRsT time. I was definitely spoiled...but that's because I was such a good boy.

I skip to my first Valentine's present to my mommy! Let's just say I have the best daddy in the whole wide world, because he bought this present for me to give to my mommy to tell her how much I lover her!!

I discovered I would much rather chew on my binki. This was the fiRST picture my mommy caught me doing this. She laughed at me...but I thought it was a good idea.

My family came to Vegas for Easter weekend and we decided to hike Mt. Charleston. I didn't know what all the white stuff was around us...but I learned it was called snow. Who would have thought the mountains in Las Vegas would have this much snow in March! This was my FIrst time seeing snow and my very fIRSt hike! My mommy forgot to take a picture of my fiRsT Easter basket (it was a baseball) but she got a picture of my fiRSt Easter outfit. I loved my plaid shorts!

My mommy noticed when I was born I had two different dialated pupils. The doctors said it was normal and my eyes would adjust within a few months. Well they never did so we went to see a Pediatric Optomitrist. Then it prompted this picture...it's pretty dark but it is me getting my fIRsT CT scan. My Pediatrition wouldn't let the doctors put me to "sleep" because I was so little. The doctors said they have never seen a child hold so still before. They were able to get the pictures they needed and they didn't find anything wrong with me. I was such a brave little boy.

This is Grandpa and Grandma Rollo taking me to my firSt Little League baseball game. I had so much fun watching my cousin Chandler play. We love that my cousins live so close to me in Henderson.

My parents kept sticking there fingers in my mouth one day. I think they were trying to get a picture of my FiRsT tooth...this was the best they could do. I was 7 months old. At that same time I was learning how to crawl for the FIrSt time. Look at me starting go!

I finally got to see my daddy play softball for the FiRSt time in Mesquite, Nevada. There are many more sightings of my daddy playing softball and I'm sure there will be many more to come.

This was the firSt time I got my hair done by my parents. It's hard to see but it's spiked up. I finally had enough hair for them to do. This same day happended to be the fIrSt time I had to go to Quick Care for wheezing. I had to be on breathing treatments for 10 days. I tried to be a good boy but it was not fun! Note from Mommy: This fIrSt picture says it all...his oxygen level was so low he should have gone to the emergency room and he also had an ear infection and still Kyson is smiling. I don't know how many times we have been told that he is the best baby they have ever met...but really it is true. Heavanly Father has blessed Shad & I with the most precious child. We couldn't have even dreamed of having a better little boy then him!! We love you KYSON!

I have always loved taking baths, so you can imagine how excited I was to get in a big swimming pool. We went to Palm Springs to watch my daddy play softball again and I was able to get into my fiRsT swimming pool. You can tell I absolutely loved it! I even started doing frogger legs (a.k.a. the breast stroke kick). I think I heard a few people call me the next Michael Phelps!

Daddy game me my FirsT hair cut. I was such a good little boy and held still the entire time. As you can tell by these pictures...I am definitely a "healthy" boy! My mommy tells me every night that she loves my little rolls. :) These pictures are before and after the cut.

I finally figured out how to pull myself up on things. My firSt picture of this, my mommy found me getting into the dog food...mmmm yummy dog food. I am starting to get into everything...my poor parents!

I loved going to my FIrSt Las Vegas 51s game. I got to see Rafael Furcal, Nomar Garciaparra, and Andruw Jones...all of them were there to get ready to go back to the majors after injuries. GO DODGERS!!!

My fIrSt Fourth of July shirt! I was able to drive to Utah on the 4th to go camping for the fIRsT time.
I loved camping but I didn't like it when my parents tried to put me down for a nap in the camper. I could hear everyone playing cards and I wanted to play too so I broke through the screen on the window and was waving to everyone to get there attention. I just wanted someone to get me to play!

The FIRsT trick I learned from my puppies...I watched how they would pick up there toys so I tried the same thing...it worked great!

My FiRst word was of course Da Da and close second was Ma Ma but those are every baby's fiRsT words. The interesting ones are what comes next...for me it was ball, which are my favorite toys right now.

Once I started crawling I warned my parents to watch out for everything but they never imagined me doing this! My fiRst time I dove straight into the dog's water bowl. Now they know better and pickup the food and water when I am around.

My babsitter is the best and threw me my fiRSt birthday party the day before my actual birthday, which was filled with a lot of fiRsTs. This was the FiRst time I had a cupcake and chocolate! It was also the FIRSt time I had ice cream. My favorite fiRst was the FiRst time I had someone sing Happy Birthday to me! It was a crazy little song and I smiled through the whole thing. Can you tell I enjoyed the cupcake??

The next day was my FIRST birthday!! I had such a great day. Mommy was able to spend most of the day with me and we had so much fun. My Grandma (and the rest of the Whipple clan) got to Las Vegas around 11 at night on my birthday. I was fast asleep but that didn't stop them from waking me up to say happy birthday! The day after my birthday, the rest of my family and friends came to celebrate my FIRST birthday party. It was at my mom's Aunt Kathy's pool. It was a little overcast but we had so much fun playing in her amazing pool and hot tub. We had burgers, hot dogs and lots of yummy salads. Wow! I am a lucky kid....did you see all of those presents?
LOVE YOU ALL!!

XOXO KYSON
